Answers to the questions people actually ask. If something is missing, use the contact page and mention MyCleanMac.
What is MyCleanMac?
A native macOS cleaner. It finds caches, logs, Trash, Mail attachments, privacy traces, app leftovers, login items, extensions and large files, shows you what it found and why, and removes only what you tick.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no trial, no subscription, no account and no in-app purchase. Download it and use it.
Which Macs and macOS versions does it support?
macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel. The download is a universal app.
Why does it ask for Full Disk Access?
macOS hides Trash, Safari data, Mail and other folders from every app until you grant it. Without Full Disk Access those places look empty even when they are not. Grant it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access, then rescan.
Why does it ask for my password?
Some files are owned by the system and cannot be removed by any app running as you. Those items are collected into a single batch and removed behind one macOS authorization prompt. The app never sees or stores your password.
What do Safe, Review and Protected mean?
Safe items regenerate on their own and are selected by default. Review items are your data or configuration, so they are listed but never pre-selected. Protected items are never offered for removal at all.
I removed something I wanted. Can I get it back?
Anything rated Review goes to the Trash rather than being deleted outright, so open the Trash and put it back. Only caches and logs, which regenerate, are removed permanently — and the Shredder, which asks first and says plainly that it cannot be undone.
macOS says it cannot verify the app.
The current release is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. If macOS still shows a warning, confirm you downloaded it from ideasfromrick.com and that your Mac is online for the first launch. Contact support if the warning persists.
How do I uninstall MyCleanMac?
Drag MyCleanMac from Applications to the Trash. It installs no background agents or login items unless you explicitly turn on the daily schedule, which you can turn off in Settings → Schedule.
Does it send anything about my Mac anywhere?
No. There is no analytics and no telemetry. The only optional network request is the Updater reading an app's public update feed, as described in the privacy policy.
Can I run it from the command line?
Yes. The same app has a full CLI — scan, clean, status, modules, updates, malware, history, ignore and schedule. 'clean' shows a preview unless you pass --apply, which makes it safe to script.
Where does it keep its data?
Settings, the ignore list and the cleanup history live in ~/Library/Application Support/MyCleanMac. Deleting that folder resets the app; nothing else on your Mac is affected.
